Nokia's robust patent portfolio, a result of substantial investments surpassing €130 billion in R&D since 2000, comprises approximately 20,000 patent families, with over 3,500 patent families essential to 5G technology. Independent studies have consistently ranked Nokia among the industry leaders in ownership of patents essential to cellular standards, notably 5G.
The company remains dedicated to portfolio revitalisation, having invested over €4 billion in R&D in the past year, culminating in over 1,500 new inventions through patent applications.
