Bentley Unveils Excellence Centre at Environmentally Certified Crewe Factory

Celebrating Craftsmanship and Sustainability in Automotive Excellence.

Bentley Motors unveils its latest milestone in craftsmanship and sustainability with the launch of a cutting-edge Excellence Centre for Vehicle Finish at their renowned Crewe factory in England. Marking this momentous occasion, Board Member for Manufacturing, Peter Bosch, proudly drove off the first car – a Bentayga V8 – from this newly dedicated facility amidst a celebratory gathering of colleagues.

A Legacy of Innovation and Sustainability

Under the visionary Beyond100 strategy, Bentley's Crewe factory, already carbon neutral, is charting a course to achieve carbon positivity by 2030. Leading the way in environmental standards, the factory was the inaugural UK automotive plant to attain both the ISO 14001 environmental standard and the ISO 50001 energy management standard. Bentley was also the recipient of the triple Carbon Trust Standard for carbon, water, and waste reduction in 2018, underscoring its commitment to sustainability.

Craftsmanship Redefined

Every Bentley vehicle will now undergo meticulous finishing at the newly inaugurated centre by a team of skilled artisans, blending traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. Each vehicle must meet exacting standards before being dispatched to Bentley's global clientele.

Excellence Through Quality and Heritage

With a meticulous 500 to 650-point inspection, followed by an intensive quality audit for 20 vehicles weekly, Bentley ensures unparalleled quality standards. This dedication to quality is reflected in the fact that over 80% of all Bentleys ever produced are still operational.

Transformation of Tradition

The Excellence Centre is housed in the erstwhile Mulliner workshops, a historical space where bespoke Bentleys were crafted. Its modern avatar, digitally equipped and optimised for efficiency, ensures Bentley can meet growing global demand while preparing for future automotive advancements.

Peter Bosch on the Milestone

Commenting on this significant achievement, Peter Bosch, Member of the Board for Manufacturing at Bentley Motors, emphasised the company's unwavering commitment to precision. He highlighted the meticulous care taken in the finishing process, leveraging both human craftsmanship and cutting-edge digital innovations like Artificial Intelligence to meet and exceed customer expectations.

He noted, "Our investment in this facility marks our forward-looking approach as we reimagine our factory to prepare for the next phase of Bentley's growth. Our site, with its focus on innovation and sustainability, remains pivotal in realising our Beyond100 vision."

The launch of this Excellence Centre epitomises Bentley's relentless pursuit of perfection, sustainability, and innovation as it charts a course for excellence in the ever-evolving automotive landscape.
